Rainbow Power

My blog post today may not be what you’re expecting.  Just a head’s up.

I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.  Genesis 9:13

rainbow-crossI had a dream the other night.

In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.  Acts 2:17

It was a simple dream.

I was standing in next to Jesus looking down as He purposely set His foot in the sand.

footprints-in-the-sand-1-croppedAs I watched His foot make an impression I remember I started thinking about that poem “Footprints in the Sand” but my thinking was abruptly halted as a powerful radiant rainbow aura of color expanded out around His entire foot.

Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking.  Eze 1:28

rainbowexplosionI remember thinking with my whole heart, “power”.

I remember being impressed simply and quickly that Jesus was not just a man who’s foot makes an impression in the sand, but that everything touched by the impression of God is changed with His power. Shaken with the power of God.

A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne.  Revelation 4:3

Even a simple footprint of God is imbued with the power of God.  And not just the footprint, but the sand and the world around it like the ripple effect of a pebble being dropped into water.

300px-ripple_effect_on_waterI remember feeling as if Jesus had shared something wonderfully revelatory with me.

He reveals deep and hidden things…Daniel 2:22

I remember a short burst of peace.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  John 14:27

And then I woke up.

Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

Jesus, I’m not sure why I had that dream, but I know it was from You.  It was a beautiful dream.  A peaceful dream.  A powerful dream.  I thank You that the rainbow and the power belongs to You and no one can snatch it away from You no matter how hard…in their pride…. they try to wrestle it from You.   We love because You first loved us, Lord.  May the power of God reach more and more people with the Truth about You and Your life, sanctifying work on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, and Your resurrection 3 days later.  May all who read believe, In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Mystery of Hidden Modesty

But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it. Luke 9:45

modesty“I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden since the creation of the world.”  Psalm 78:2 and Matthew 13

I was thinking about my Mom this early winter morning.  I was thinking about how I never…not once…ever…in the 19 treasured earthly years I had with her…saw her take a bath or shower.  And yet, she was still always clean, fresh, and sweet smelling.

…the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.       John 12:3

She was sooooooo modest!

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.  Hebrews 4:13

Compared to today’s world she probably would be classified as some sort of phobic about modesty?  Is there such a thing?  Can it be a bad thing?

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. Revelation 2:17

This is my thought…

For we believe that Jesus died and rose again…1 Thes 4:14

Her extreme modesty made a lasting impression on me.

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.Colossians 3:3

It imprinted itself upon my heart.

…so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith…Ephesians 3:17

It was beautiful!

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles…

…and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes…

…Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:3

It was a glimpse of God.

But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

modesty-lift-the-veil-over-body-faceDear Jesus, Thank you for the dignity revealed through my Mom’s modesty.  Help us to live in the paradox of Christ.     Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, establish those reading by faith.  Lift the veil and reveal hidden things to them, in Your name, Amen.

The Best Kiss

In fact, it says, “The word is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach.  Romans 10:8

I found this in my draft folder.  I’m not sure if I blogged it way back in 2015, but thought it worthy of posting, even if for a second time.

He kisses and embraces his dear bride with His word, which is the kiss of His lips. -Martin Luther

Kiss the Son. Kiss the Star.
Kiss the ancient gates and bars.
Kiss the Father. Kiss the Glory.
Kiss the One and Only Holy!

Kiss the beard, wise and white,
Seated right above the heights.
Kiss the man made flesh when came down.
Blood and sweat poured from His pierced crown.

Kiss the Son lest He be angry.
Kiss him quick and do not tarry.
Kiss the Unseen, embrace Its cause.
Kiss Perfection despite your flaws.

Kiss the Son who willingly
Kissed of death to set you free.

Amy (C)

Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Psalm 2:12

Jesus, Only because of grace can we think to kiss You by faith.  You have kissed us and kissed us and kissed us again despite our sin and rebellion.  You will continue to kiss us …Your dear children…into eternity, loved and saved by the Father.  In your name, most Holy Groom.  Amen

Anchors of Hope in Hidden Depths

I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

My husband and I were talking the other morning about why people do what they do in certain situations.   My husband was thinking out loud theorizing that maybe they do what they do because of this or that reason, or maybe they justify their actions because of what other people do.

boat-on-buildingAs he was talking, I had a vision of a boat being tossed about on the waves…umpquabar…and the Lord really opened up my mind to understand in a new and deeper way that without His Word in the heart a human’s thinking is like a dark ocean of waves upon which unstable thought processes are carried. (Just think of the internet and all of the waves  false ideas, suggestions, teachings, doctrines in that deep ocean alone)

…so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.  Ephesians 4:14

I shared the vision with my husband and we stood in awe of God.  We also stood in humility at how God has worked in our lives to bring us to the provision of His word as an anchored hope in our lives.

We have this hope as an anchor for our lives, safe and secure.

cross_and_anchor_001Jesus,  Your word is so powerful that, with it, we have the ability to destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey You (2 Cor 10:5).   That is what it means to walk in truth.  You are Truth.  We need Your Holy Spirit to do this, Lord, so like David, we cry out, “Do not take your Holy Spirit from me!”   You are our Sure Foundation-our Life-and we have this anchor in our soul because your cross was anchored to a hill outside of Jerusalem 2,000 years ago.   We cling to The Anchor. It is in Your name I pray.  Amen.

For they call themselves after the holy city, and anchor themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name. Isaiah 48:2

The song starts a little after the 6:00 minute mark…

Slaves to Receipts? Redeem Them!!!

“Are the people of Israel slaves? Were they born into slavery? Why, then, have they become someone’s property?

God bought you with a high price. So glorify God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:20

I was washing clothes this morning and cleaning out pockets.  My husband’s coat pockets were FILLED with little annoying store receipts as they are every Monday Wash Day!  In America we live in the midst of capitalism at its finest and often walk around and drive around with little store receipts everywhere.

Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. Romans 6:19

What do we do with all of them?

I usually just recycle them.

“You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed.”   Isaiah 52:3

And, being good stewards of this created world, we should.

But as I was pulling all of those receipts out this morning the Lord stopped me in my tracks and impressed something upon my heart.  I heard His still small voice speak love to my heart,   “I paid for your soul with the precious blood of My One and Only Son.  Honor me.”

When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!  Matthew 13:46

As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” Romans 10:11

Our souls are valuable to him, as a pearl of great value!  God loved the world so much that He sacrificed His One and Only Son that `whoever will believe in Him will have eternal life.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.   Isaiah 53:5

jesus-stripesYou have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. Romans 6:18

Jesus, every time we see a little paper receipt from a store remind us that you carry us, not in your pocket, but close to your heart.  Your heart is full of bought people, who, upon hearing the gospel, receive the gift of faith.  May all who hear understand their value in the free market of the gospel and become obedient to you as slaves of righteousness.  In Your name, Lord.  Amen

Such Things, What Things?

Against such things there is no law.  Galatians 5:23

fruit-of-the-spiritHIDDEN FRUIT

Walking in sound vineyard peaceful as can be,

Wet dew underfoot, and smell of grapes sweetly

Wafting in the breeze kisses upon my face.

Peeking under green leaf with fruit full of grace,

Clusters of gentle amerinthine Concord,

Lovely, dangle and drape above joyous sward.

Patiently they fill with flesh of sweetened meat

Through faithful season’s sun, cloud, hail, mist, and storm.

Persevering rich goodness in bundled form,

as vine to branch most mercifully supply

in kind and plush abundance, aqua vitae!

Amy (C)

concord-grapeJesus, My Vine, You are so precious and Your dear sweet Holy Spirit in me…hidden… produces good things…outward.  I pray that others can see Your goodness in me and be drawn to You, precious Lord.  You were connected to the cross to reconnect us to You.  I praise You for Your life of sacrifice for me.  You are the Vine of Life and apart from You I can do nothing.  Amen.

Silver, Gold, Dust, and Spirit

broken-potteryRemember him—before the silver cord is severed,
    and the golden bowl is broken;
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,
and the wheel broken at the well,
and the dust returns to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it.                  Ecclesiastes 12:6-7

You are a clay pot, Child,

Meant to be gently filled,

Not with sin and darkness,

But that with which God wills.

My Holy spirit pure,

The word of faith alive

At work in the hard heart,

Transforming, changing lives!

You who one time were dead

As Laz’rus in the tomb

By faith in baptism’s death

Brings rebirth from the womb.

Mother Jerusalem,

The church, the womb above,

Birthed in light and goodness

Knit with the Father’s love.

Come forth, then, Oh, new man!

Come forth, you are set free!

The clay will turn to dust,

But you’ll return to me.
