You live in the midst of deception. Jeremiah 9:6
I am the truth. John 14:6
Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. 2 Corinthians 4:2
The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception. Proverbs 14:8
A wise son heeds his father’s instruction. Proverbs 13:1a
Having been called out of the darkness of atheism several years ago to an LCMS, the one major thing that I noticed over and over, with increasing
fervency frequency is the use of the word story when referring to The Holy Scriptures.
We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:10-14
At one point during a VBS meeting, after hearing a Pastor use the word story in reference to The Bible, I asked him if we could stop using that word and start using the words “account” or “history” or “truth”, and the very next day one of his devoted followers, pointedly and with great infliction, used
story that word in my direction as she was teaching the attending children!
…but a mocker does not respond to rebukes. Proverbs 13:1b
For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
And then we wonder why we have such a great falling away taking place in our churches today.
Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way. 2 Thessalonians 2:3
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.
Jesus, open blind eyes to the seriousness of this error. Amen
