The Great Within

The Pharisees asked Jesus when the kingdom of God would come. He answered them, “People can’t observe the coming of the kingdom of God.  They can’t say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ You see, the kingdom of God is within you.”  Luke 17:20-21

THE GREAT WITHIN

The kingdom of God is within you

For the word of Christ dwells richly there

The living active word of God

Cutting down deeply through bone and mar’

The kingdom of God is within you

From supper to cross did He outpour

His Son’s life in exchange for your life

Real body and blood mingled with yours.

The Kingdom of God is within you

Baptized in the drowning death of host

Upon plunged sinner’s brow are these words

Blessed by Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The Kingdom of God is within you

Bound tight with God’s unbreakable seal

This faith is heaven’s trust guaranteed

A promise that will ne’er be repealed.

The Kingdom of God is within you

One day the Morning Star to arise

And bring you together with all saints

To meet glorified in heaven’s skies!

Jesus said to his disciples, “The time will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.   People will say, ‘There he is!’ or ‘Here he is!’ Don’t run after those people.   The day of the Son of Man will be like lightning that flashes from one end of the sky to the other.   But first he must suffer a lot and be rejected by the people of his day.   “When the Son of Man comes again, the situation will be like the time of Noah.  People were eating, drinking, and getting married until the day that Noah went into the ship. Then the flood destroyed all of them.   “The situation will also be like the time of Lot. People were eating, drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.   But on the day that Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from the sky and destroyed all of them.   The day when the Son of Man is revealed will be like that.    “On that day those who are on the roof shouldn’t come down to get their belongings out of their houses. Those who are in the field shouldn’t turn back.   Remember Lot’s wife!   Those who try to save their lives will lose them, and those who lose their lives will save them.  “I can guarantee that on that night if two people are in one bed, one will be taken and the other one will be left.   Two women will be grinding grain together. One will be taken, and the other one will be left.”   They asked him, “Where, Lord?” Jesus told them, “Vultures will gather wherever there is a dead body.”   Luke 17:22-37

Jesus, Lord of Eternity, we are even more confident of the message proclaimed by the prophets. People would do well to pay attention to it, because it is like a lamp shining in a dark place until the Day dawns and the light of the morning star shines in our hearts.   Draw all who read this to Your light, In Your Name, Amen.

About lifevine

Hi! My name is Amy. I am a former atheist and, for a season, practiced witchcraft. God drew me out of darkness 17 years ago and gave me the spiritual gifts of knowing and faith. He gives me daily encouragement and affirmation and I hope to share Him with you. If you have not yet met the one true God, His name is Jesus Christ, and may I be the first to introduce you to Him? He is the Restorative Savior God promised Adam and Eve 6,000 years ago (Genesis 3:15) after they had sinned in the garden, bringing separation from God because of disobedience. It is rightly reported that a little over 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem He was born of a virgin, lived a blameless perfect life in and around Jerusalem, died on a cross on Golgotha for the world's sin, and 3 days later rose again. YES! ROSE AGAIN! AMAZING! Please get baptized in His name, and walk in an eternal restored fellowship with Christ. You can get to know Him by reading, marking, and inwardly digesting His Word.... His Holy Bible.
