Know The Difference

Teach me to number my days that I may gain a heart of wisdom.

I just woke up from a dream.  It was quite unpleasant, but not (vain) meaningless, or without revelation.

All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.

I dreamed that I was sitting in a chair being injected with a jar of euthanasia drug while two friends (one dead, one alive) stood by.  My breathing was becoming labored.

God..gives everyone life, breath

I remember thinking that I only had a few minutes to live and wanted to ask exactly how long, but found that the thought scared me.   I didn’t want to know how long I had.  I thought it best not to know.

There is an appointed time for everything, and there is a time for every event under heaven.  A time to give birth, and a time to die.

My dream switched and I was now standing weakly looking out the window with one friend beside me.   I could feel the cold coils of death trying to grasp the edges of my mind.

The ropes of the grave had surrounded me. The clutches of death had confronted me.

The only thing I was thinking about was my son and what he would do after I died.  My heart went out to him, and I spent the rest of my (dying breaths) dream crying out in prayer for him.  Interceding for him.  Wailing and sorrowing on his behalf.  Pouring out my heart for him despite my labored breathing.

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

And then I woke up.

I was still very much alive.  Praise God!

And then something came to my mind…Yesterday I was scanning Facebook and came across a photo of an Australian spider that had killed a gecko with this headline, “Nature at its best red back spider eating lunch.”

I asked a simple question, “Are these spiders poisonous to humans?”  I received two important responses:  “They can make you sick “, and another response that made me really think…”You need to know the difference between poisonous and venomous. Poison is something that you ingest/swallow through the mouth. Venomous is injected from a bite or sting.”

So I did what I always do and went to the scriptures to verify.  This is what I found, and what I found was interesting.

He will suck the poison of serpents; the fangs of an adder will kill him.

They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s;
the poison of vipers is on their lips.

Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they
are like the deaf adder that stops its ear.

I found it interesting that it was translated “poison”, and not venom.  So I did an interBible search for venom and found this:

Their wine is the venom of serpents, the deadly poison of cobras.

God uses both words.

And then because of all this teaching on venom and poison I remembered this account…

So the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and you; intercede with the LORD, that He may remove the serpents from us.” And Moses interceded for the people. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a standard; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, he will live.” And Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived.…

And these cross references…

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up.

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel

And finally this…

Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other.

Remember what I said earlier?  “The only thing I was thinking about was my son and what he would do after I died.  My heart went out to him, and I spent the rest of my dying breaths… crying out in prayer for him.  Interceding for him.  Wailing and sorrowing on his behalf.  Pouring out my heart for him despite my labored breathing.”

Don’t you think that that is what Jesus did for you with his dying breaths?

Jesus, I am so very thankful that on the third day you rose…for me!  Hallelujah

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.

Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.’…

About lifevine

Hi! My name is Amy. I am a former atheist and, for a season, practiced witchcraft. God drew me out of darkness 17 years ago and gave me the spiritual gifts of knowing and faith. He gives me daily encouragement and affirmation and I hope to share Him with you. If you have not yet met the one true God, His name is Jesus Christ, and may I be the first to introduce you to Him? He is the Restorative Savior God promised Adam and Eve 6,000 years ago (Genesis 3:15) after they had sinned in the garden, bringing separation from God because of disobedience. It is rightly reported that a little over 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem He was born of a virgin, lived a blameless perfect life in and around Jerusalem, died on a cross on Golgotha for the world's sin, and 3 days later rose again. YES! ROSE AGAIN! AMAZING! Please get baptized in His name, and walk in an eternal restored fellowship with Christ. You can get to know Him by reading, marking, and inwardly digesting His Word.... His Holy Bible.
