As my Savior’s cross was lifted into place
From the dark dank hole at Christ’s sacred feet’s base
A viper forceful struck at His Master’s heel
With the fervency of a condemned’s last meal.
And the Prince of Peace with determined set face
Though bound by His great love and exuding grace
By the power of God’s will was lifted up high
As the cross crashed straight down like a gavel’s sigh
When it pounds the sound block with justice final
upon the snake as it sought to strike and crawl.
Though anchored in place by beam and rusty nail
Our God in great glory triumphed without fail
And crushed the small head of the venomous snake
And left death dead in the cross’ mighty wake!
Pinning Satan’s head under weighty lumber
Chaining him there in memorialized slumber.
The cross crunched its head in one great mortal blow
As the snake sought the refuge of its dark hole.
Always at the bottom of the wondrous cross
The serpent’s body thrashes its angry loss
In dieing throes till that glorious last day
Our King of Kings will return without delay
And throw into the eternal fiery flue
That unholy snake, and fallen angels, too.
The Book of Life ends by making all things new!
You can trust these very words for they are true!
