“What is truth?” (Pontius Pilate asked Jesus. John 18:38)
“Then you will know the Truth, and the truth will set you free.” (Jesus as recorded in John 8:32)
THE COST OF KNOWING TRUTH
The Truth is a narrow path, a path for the last and the least.
The lost and the poor set foot upon it, trembling like a leaf.
For Truth is a cross; a suffering, lonely, desolate place.
A tiny beam of light in darkness, a small solstice of grace.
The men of dark night hate this revealing light and run to hide,
Mouths mocking and scorning with sneered contempt to cover their pride.
No children of the father of lies this raised highway traverse,
No lion or beast or man of sick, sad, and possessed soul perverse.
Only on coals of hot persecution will Children of Truth
Come to know The One whose words of life are their proof. For Truth will take the lives of men, stealing their very breath. The cost of sin is not only sore suffering, but sure death. Men given in exchange for others, the cost of Truth to shine. One sinless man in flesh, giving his life in ransom for mine. Two types of death are real on this fallen loathsome place. One path leads to blackest darkness, the other to light and grace. The first path is treacherous and leads through arid ways so lost. The other leads through those purifying flames of Jesus’ cross. For He, so earnest, said, “I am The Truth, The Life, and The Way,
And though you may die, yet will you live.” As on this path you stay.(C) A.C. 12-12-13
…he goes on ahead of them and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. (Jesus as recorded in John 10:4)
“Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” (Jesus as recorded in John 18 :37)
Jesus, may all who read, see, and hear, respond to the Spirit of Truth. In Your Holy name, Lord, Amen.
Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life. (The Lord to Isaiah the prophet as recorded in Isaiah 43:4)
