Life sucks too. But the suckiness of life is part of the fun, too, when savored, like delicious hot burning peppers in Mexican food… Daniel Suelo
A GOOD HURT
“All will hate you, but follow me,”
Life is hard for Christianity.
Hours of endless self-examination,
Motives weighed and abominations
Of sins revealed to one’s own ignorant soul.
Carrying crosses makes you whole.
“The eye of the Lord is upon his anointed.”
As His conforming is sometimes pointed,
And hard and hurtful… and oh so perfect.
Every heart of his he hastes to inspect.
For children of God, to a higher standard,
Are held accountable, for they are the vanguard
Advancing in a devil-filled world,
Carrying the banner of Truth, a treasured pearl.
And as gritty sand forges the hidden gem,
Gold is formed from our heart within,
Mastered and held to the fiery flame
Of scrutiny of hypocrisy and guilt and shame.
For in the gritty guilt and shame of sin,
It’s in this fire we see the face of Him.
Looking at us with no condemnation,
We grow in grace and imitation
Of the One who loves us, and to convert,
His Spirit speaks Truth, though it bite and hurt.
For in the pain forgiveness comes fast,
In Christ alone, is our faith steadfast.
It is in His call we are called to suffer,
But he is our Comfort and his cross our Buffer.
This world with hurt does team and brim,
But the greatest good hurt comes from him,
For he alone knows the greatest pain,
And bore it alone for our souls to gain.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
Son of David! Have mercy on me! In Jesus name, Amen.
