“If, while we seek to be justified in Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves are sinners, does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! Gal 2:17
I remember talking with a fellow church member a dozen or so years ago. She was the Mom of a young boy and a girl and she said something that boggled my mind, “There must not be any absolutes, only good choices and bad choices.” (Is that an absolute statement?)
Let’s see how living in a
fantasy world of no absolutes works for ya’.
I think my jaw dropped on the ground. The world
thrives runs on absolutes!!! A world without absolutes would be meaningless. And what would the gospel mean to an absolutes-less society? Oh, yeah, that’s right, this world would LOVE a world without absolutes, hence, the conversation I was having with her. This was a woman who sat in church and professed faith in Christ. I wondered if she had ever even read a Bible.
I am The Way, The Truth, The Life. -Jesus
‘The report showed numerous gay couples standing before “preachers” getting married.
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3
My heart ached for righteousness.
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor 6:9-10
All I could think of was if this is a “right” then how long will it be before bestiality, polygamy, murder, pedophilia, adultery, theft, greed, slander, swindling, and necrophilia are no longer considered immoral by man, but a “right” as well? How can a “right” be so wrong?
If the perfectly divine standard for morality is ignored in even one area, then morality will erode away in every area until there is no firm foundation upon which to stand.
Then what will you do?
And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:10
If there were no absolutes there would be no -ed endings! In fact there would be no endings!
It is finished. -Jesus
Of that we can be absolutely sure!
…these words are trustworthy and true. Rev 21:5
Jesus, thank you for absolutely loving the world so much that you died for all sins. Your death was absolute, but even better, so was your rising again! I absolutely love you, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
