Praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Psalm 150:5
I listened to a video of “Little Drummer Boy” today posted by a friend of mine. It was so peaceful listening to him and his partner singing this beautiful song with just the piano to accompany them. It was a great way to start out the Advent season.
I cherish the peacefulness I felt while listening.
It wasn’t a peace as we sometimes find in this world. The world’s peace is just a temporary respite, something like a short sigh, in the midst of busyness. The peace I felt was a deeper peace. A deep, satisfying pool, no! a wide river of peace flowing through my soul.
“Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Job 22:21
A peace that combines not just satisfaction or quiet, but a secured restfulness, a redeeming love, a completed forgiveness, and a rooted abiding Divinity.
I am at peace with God through His Son Jesus Christ.
That is true peace.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:7
This is not my friend’s video, but as I was searching for an appropriate one this one caught my eye. I had chills as I watched it. I’m kind of partial to drummer boys because my son plays drums.
This is true peace amidst drums…
Jesus, I’ve heard people say that drums have no place in worship service…oh, really? What arrogance to deny the gifts you so beautifully place within the hearts and minds and hands of men. I thank you for the song “Little Drummer Boy” and “It is Well With My Soul”. I thank you for winning peace for our souls as you drummed out our salvation on the cross; your heart beating and pouring out its blood to cover our sin. May every drummer boy or girl find peace through Jesus’ work on the cross, Amen.
