When you carry a Bible, the devil gets a headache.
When you open it, he collapses.
When he sees you reading it, he faints,
When he sees you living it,…..he flees.
And just when you’re about to re-post this, he will try & discourage you.
… I just defeated him. Like,Copy & Paste if ur in God’s Army
This post has been circulating facebook lately. I didn’t give it much thought, but after Bible study last night, on the drive home, my son said, “You know that saying about when you open your Bible the devil collapses? I don’t think it’s true. I think when you open your Bible that makes the devil angry. When your living the Bible the devil doesn’t flee, he sticks around and tries to kick you off the right path.”
I think my son is pretty wise, and I also think he is freer than I was at that age because I did not recognize Jesus, or the devil. The Truth will set us free, so it is important to recognize Truth and not run from it or misrepresent it like we might be tempted to do when we read a scriptural Truth like this one in Revelations 12, “How horrible it is for the earth and the sea because the Devil has come down to them with fierce anger, knowing that he has little time left…The serpent became angry with the woman. So it went away to fight with her other children, the ones who keep God’s commands and hold on to the testimony of Jesus. (I love how God’s Spirit inspired John to call the Devil an ‘it.’)
Ephesians 6:12 says, ‘For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.’
The Devil is active in our daily struggles whether our Bible is open or not. But it is important to remember first and foremost Romans 8; “What will separate us from the love Christ has for us? Can trouble, distress, persecution, hunger, nakedness, danger, or violent death separate us from his love? As Scripture says: “We are being killed all day long because of you. We are thought of as sheep to be slaughtered.” The one who loves us gives us an overwhelming victory in all these difficulties. I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love which Christ Jesus our Lord shows us. We can’t be separated by death or life, by angels or rulers, by anything in the present or anything in the future, by forces or powers in the world above or in the world below, or by anything else in creation.”
May we always be reminded of these words spoken to Joshua when he was faced with the temptation to be afraid, “Be Strong and Courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Father God, Thank you for revealing to us the Truth, even if it seems scary, Lord, because we know the victory is ours and we know that you have not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and self-control. Let us not be of those who shrink back, but let us stand up with full armor on. Let us stand in the power of Jesus’ resurrection that we carry around in us knowing that He (Jesus) who is in us is greater than he (the devil) who is the world!!! In the mighty and powerful name of the Lord of the Heavenly Armies, Jesus Christ. Amen
