Sailors take warning! Red sky at night, Sailors delight!
Did you see the sky this morning (similar to the picture above?) Wow! It nearly took my breath away (not a hard thing to do nowadays with this sarcoidosis.) It was what I call “vibrant fuchsia peach.” It was alive with color! When I saw it my heart swelled with awe and wonder.
I’ve often wondered at how this world takes my breath away. There are so many beautiful landscapes, and skies, mountain peaks, oceans, hills, and valleys. Animals are so beautifully costumed and colored. Birds can be flamboyantly plumaged and painted, and the fish of the sea wrapped in splendorous image. Even insects (ugh, shudder) can be extremely cool to look at and study.
When we start to think about the multitudes of animals and birds and fish and insects and their varieties and beauty….I say it again, multitudes (a number our minds can’t even wrap around!) isn’t it a kind of arrogance to think evolution is true?
It’s been 200 years since Darwin lived and breathed (he’s as dead as dead can be) and there has been no proof of evolution. No animal has ever turned into another animal. A finch is still a finch. A frog is still a frog. An ape is still an ape. A human is still a human. Just as it has always been despite what you read in your school text books, or hear on Animal Planet or Nat Geo, or the latest news out of the scientific community.
Isn’t it a kind of arrogance to think evolution is true when we have a Field Guide to the animals and creation telling us otherwise?
Acts 17:23-31 As I was going through your city and looking closely at the objects you worship, I noticed an altar with this written on it: ‘To an unknown god.’ I’m telling you about the unknown god you worship. The God who made the universe and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth. He doesn’t live in shrines made by humans, and he isn’t served by humans as if he needed anything. He gives everyone life, breath, and everything they have. From one man he has made every nation of humanity to live all over the earth. He has given them the seasons of the year and the boundaries within which to live. He has done this so that they would look for God, somehow reach for him, and find him. In fact, he is never far from any one of us. Certainly, we live, move, and exist because of him. As some of your poets have said, ‘We are God’s children.’ So if we are God’s children, we shouldn’t think that the divine being is like an image made from gold, silver, or stone, an image that is the product of human imagination and skill. “God overlooked the times when people didn’t know any better. But now he commands everyone everywhere to turn to him and change the way they think and act. He has set a day when he is going to judge the world with justice, and he will use a man he has appointed to do this. God has given proof to everyone that he will do this by bringing that man back to life.”
Isn’t it time we gave up the evolutionary fairy tale?
Jesus, You alone give me breath and take it away! I am in awe whenever you send me a beautiful sunset or sunrise. There is a twinkle in your eye when you make your children a stunning sky! Open up the eyes of this world to see that you created, and evolution is a big fat lie. Turn this world to its Creator. In Jesus name, Amen.
