Yep. That’s right. The neighbor’s car alarm just went off a little bit ago. Unfortunately their car is 10 feet from our bedroom window and we had the window open. Hence, blogging at 2:38am.
We moved here 2 years ago and the one thing I’m not sure if I will ever adjust to is the alarms that go off all over the place all the time, seemingly non-stop!
I blogged about train crossing alarms the other day, but they’re just the tip of the never ending iceberg of alarms. Along with them and the car alarms, there are firetrucks (286 rescues year to date), rescue squads, police cars, ambulances, radio alarms, burglary alarms, automobile back- up alarms on rear bumpers, dryer buzzers, stove timer alarms, timer timer alarms, telephones, pagers, even shock collars on dogs…there are alarms everywhere anymore! The next time you are out and about just stop and take notice.
Back in the old neighborhood we occasionally heard the alarm go off on the pumping station next to our home and that was about it.
Alarms every where are just a sign of the times.
Jesus, right now, I wonder if this matters? I wonder if any of this really matters? And then I think of the alarms. Sometimes it seems like all there are are alarms. Please return. Amen.
