Have you ever met someone of a different religion who has ever said that about their God? Have you ever met a Muslim who has struggled with loving Allah, or an atheist who has ever struggled with
loving themselves being atheist? What about a deist? Have you ever seen one having trouble loving their god? Have you ever heard a ________…the list can go on 1,000 times over. I’ll bet you haven’t.
This may be the first time you’ve ever heard this from a Christian, but I’m going to say it; I am a Christian and I hate God! Yes. That’s right, I hate God. I hate going to church. I hate listening to drudgery old hymns. I hate church organs, I hate “religious” things like stained glass windows, and altars, and massive buildings built to house Christian worship services, I hate
myself pious Christians, and anything related to God.
Are you shocked? I am/am not.
I’m just being honest.
Even as I say this there is another part of me that is very quietly remembering a man on a cross. And my body longs for Him. My soul thirsts for Him in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
…the corrupt nature has a hostile attitude toward God. It refuses to place itself under the authority of God’s standards because it can’t. Those who are under the control of the corrupt nature can’t please God. But if God’s Spirit lives in you, you are under the control of your spiritual nature, not your corrupt nature. Whoever doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ doesn’t belong to him. However, if Christ lives in you, your bodies are dead because of sin, but your spirits are alive because you have God’s approval. Does the Spirit of the One who brought Jesus back to life live in you?
Abba, Father, I love you. I love your Son, Jesus Christ, and I love your Holy Spirit who would choose to live in me and love me despite the fact that in my corrupt nature I hate God. If people are not living in the paradox of God it is my prayer that they would examine themselves to see if they really truly are in the one true faith. All other gods are idols. There is only one God. Maybe that’s why we never hear other religions say they hate their God. Amen
