After Jesus had witnessed to the woman at the well she ran back to the town and asked the townspeople, “Could this be the Christ?”
What if the disciples had taken out of context what Jesus was trying to tell them as the Samaritan woman came back down the road leading the rest of the town out to meet Him?
Jesus said, “Even now the fields are ripe for harvest.” I can just picture Jesus sweeping his hand towards the people as they
walked ran towards Him. But what if the disciples, in their dullness, looked past the people to the actual fields surrounding the well and said, “Oh, let’s go out and hoe a row today?”
Where would the Christian church be if everyone were out harvesting the physical fields, and not the spiritual? There would be no disciples. There would be no converts. There would be no reason for Jesus.
Hmmm. That makes me think it must have been God working in these men to bring about His plan, because man, in his sinful fallen state, is too stupid to “get it” on his own. We must have understanding given to us.
If you don’t know Jesus, pray that He will show you Himself. Please! For God’s sake!
